How I use linen throughout our home

Over the years, I’ve come to really care about the quality of the textiles we use throughout our home, and the organic texture and softness that linen brings is my absolute favourite. Not to mention that it’s such a versatile and hardworking fabric.

Kitchen Towels

Linen kitchen towels are my absolute favourite for styling photos in the kitchen, and are also our go-to for day to day. Whenever I’m shooting a kitchen, I always include a linen kitchen towel, as it brings a soft texture to a typically purely functional and cold space. I love how this striped kitchen towel from MagicLinen brings a graphic pattern to the space, yet still feels organic. I actually purchased this linen tea towel, loved it, and then coincidentally, MagicLinen reached out to collaborate, unrelated. I was elated, because I truly love their products.

Linen tea towels are also some of my favourite items to gift to people who take pride in their homes, since they’re the easiest way to add some luxury to your kitchen at a super affordable cost. Even if they’re just the towels you set out when you host guests in your home, they’re an easy way to elevate your space.

Napkins

Since renovating our kitchen, we have worked hard to elevate our meals, because we want to level up to match our new space. In the process, we have transitioned purely to cloth napkins and linen ones are our go-to. We love that by using cloth napkins we’re reducing our use of single-use products, and they really make you feel like you’re sitting down to a meal. In short, we love them.

Placemats

We had been working to host as many friends for meals in our kitchen as possible, and since we’ve been eating at our tabletop island, we love using linen placemats to dress up the island. They bring a softness to the stone tabletop, and they’re easy to add to the wash after meals. We love these striped placemats from MagicLinen.

Bathroom Towels

Not only have we been using linen tea towels in the kitchen, but we’ve also been using them as hand towels in our bathrooms. They’re lighter, and feel less fussy than traditional terry cloth towels, plus they can bring some pattern to the space.

For instance, I love using these charcoal grid linen tea towels in our master bathroom, because the pop of pattern and linen texture makes the space feel more casual and eclectic.

In our guest bathroom, we added a blue striped linen tea towel for an extra punch of pattern and colour.

Tablecloths

While our dining room is still a work in progress, I kept staring at our big new-to-us round wood dining table and thinking it felt really formal. I found this round striped linen tablecloth that was the perfect size for our 66″ round dining table. I love how much more casual it makes our dining table feel, and I can’t wait to share finished photos of the space with you soon(ish).

Thank you to MagicLinen for providing product for this blog post. MagicLinen uses 100% European Linen that is OEKO-TEX certified and stone washed for softness.

Another way I love styling my table linens is with vintage plates and white ceramic vases.

  1. Hi Erin, can you tell me the wall paint color in the kitchen (blue cabinets, white farmhouse sink, etc.). Thank you.

    1. The cabinets came painted this colour, so I don’t have a paint colour name I can share, sorry!
